Dark Legacy :: manual sockets
Dividing Line

Sockets and Runewords

Crafts
You might encounter items in the realms with a number of sockets placed on them. Each socket will fit a rune (The same runes used for spells). To place a rune in a weapon, make sure they are both in your inventory and type 'combine [weapon] [rune]'.

Adding a rune in a weapon will give it a bonus. (For example, adding an 'Air' rune will cause it to do +5 additional air damage).

To see how many sockets (if any) an item has, 'cast identify' on it, or just look at it.

Runewords
Note that in certain combinations the runes will transform and form a word, imbuing the weapon with some form of special magic. For example:
<32000hp 500m 680mv> combine dagger moo
You place a rune into an empty socket of an amethyst gauche.
An amethyst gauche emits a faint *click* as your rune becomes part of it.

<32000hp 500m 680mv> combine dagger tal
You place a rune into an empty socket of an amethyst gauche.
An amethyst gauche emits a faint *click* as your rune becomes part of it.
An amethyst gauche almost blinds you with rays of brilliant white light.
An amethyst gauche shines as its runes morph into the word 'Fortuner'.

<32000hp 500m 680mv> cast identify dagger
